Dr. McKenley Esnard, - Chairman and Director
Dr. Esnard is a senior executive with broad management experience, a recognized expert in information technology and security. A business leader with keen analytical capabilities and strong customer focus. He is the founder and President of Esnard Computer Consultants Inc. of Ottawa. The firm’s primary business is to provide quality informatics consultants to both the private and public sectors.
Dr. Esnard holds an MBA from the Harvard School of Business in Boston, Massachusetts, PhD degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Toronto, and a PhD in Communications from the University of Vermont.
In his role as a senior member of the Diplomatic Corps, he has held posts in China, the Soviet Union, South Africa and Barbados. He served as chief negotiator during the Biafran crisis. Dr. Esnard is currently Vice Chair of United Nations Canada and chairman of Fabian Trust.
In addition, he served on the Board of Directors of multinational corporations including Nortel Inc. and Bectel Engineering, as well as numerous other public and private sector companies.
Dr. Gene S. Shelp - Director, President and C.E.O.
Dr. Shelp is co-founder, and President and Chief Executive Officer of ENPAR Technologies Inc. Dr. Shelp is a professional geoscientist with about ten years experience in mining and fifteen years experience in water treatment, with emphasis on water quality issues associated with development, operation and decommissioning of mine sites. Over the past thirteen years, Dr. Shelp spearheaded the development of the company's electrochemical water treatment technologies for remediating surface waters, groundwater, and municipal and industrial process and waste waters contaminated with metals, ammonia and nitrate. He earned undergraduate degrees in Wildlife Management and Earth Sciences, and a PhD in Environmental Geochemistry from the University of Guelph , as well as a M.Sc. degree in Geology from Queen's University. He was a NSERC Canada Industry Post-doctoral Fellow at the University of Guelph .
Mr. Leonard P. Seed - Director and Vice-President, Product Development & Research
Mr. Seed is a professional engineer and Vice-President of Product Development and Research for ENPAR Technologies Inc , with responsibility for all phases of experimental design and management of laboratory and pilot-scale studies leading to commercialization of various technologies. Prior to joining ENPAR in 1998, he conducted laboratory and pilot-scale studies on bio-filtration of BTEX-contaminated gas streams and on the use of solvent extraction for the recovery of chromium and other metals from waste liquors associated with the metal plating industry. Mr. Seed has B.Sc. Eng. and M.Sc. degrees, respectively, in Biological Engineering and Environmental Engineering from the University of Guelph . He joined the board of directors in 2002.
Dr. Barry J. Shelp - Director and Secretary
Dr. Shelp is co-founder and director of ENPAR Technologies Inc. With the exception of one year, he has served on the board since the company's inception. In addition, he is professor of plant physiology/biochemistry in the Department of Plant Agriculture at the University of Guelph . Dr. Shelp has expertise in plant nutrition and plant response to environmental contaminants, revegetation of reclaimed sites and environmental impact studies, and production of major crop plants with improved ability to tolerate pests and environmental stresses using state-of-the-art biochemical and molecular techniques . Dr. Shelp earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Biology and Plant Physiology, respectively, from Brock University , and his Ph.D degree in Plant Physiology from Queen's University. He was a NSERC Canada Post-doctoral Fellow at the University of Western Australia and at Carleton University . He later joined the University of Guelph as a NSERC Canada University Research Fellow, and achieved the rank of Full Professor. He is the author or co-author of more than 100 refereed publications in the scientific literature. Dr. Shelp has served as Associate Editor for both the Canadian Journal of Plant Science and the Canadian Journal of Botany, and is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the Journal of Experimental Botany, and the Co-editor of the Canadian Journal of Botany.
Mr. Anthony M. Cosentino - Director
Mr. Cosentino is co-founder and Vice-President (retired in 2004) of a successful company that provides lease financing to top Fortune 100 companies across Canada . Mr. Cosentino worked for thirteen years at IBM Canada Ltd. in various sales and sales management positions, and been a member of the boards of two other TSE-listed companies. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto . He is a significant shareholder of ENPAR Technologies Inc., joining the board of directors in 2003.
