Arsenic Removal

Arsenic is a naturally occurring element that is released into the environment through natural processes. These processes account for the majority of arsenic contaminated water. However, industries such as smelters and mining operations and commercial products such as wood preservatives and agricultural chemicals also contribute to arsenic contamination.

Countries including Bangladesh, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Australia, Hungary, China, Peru and parts of the United States face significant levels of arsenic contamination. In Bangladesh groundwater used for drinking has been contaminated with naturally occurring inorganic arsenic. There are serious problems in many Mexican regions, largely in the north part of the country due to industrial contamination. The Nebraska Health and Human Services System reports that its water supply systems will have arsenic concentrations above the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA).10 µg/L limit.

ENPAR Technologies Inc. has developed an arsenic removal system that effectively and efficiently reduces arsenic concentrations in water. The technology is based on ENPAR’s proven capacitive deionization technology; the DesEL system. Testing of the DesEL system for the removal of arsenic has proven successful at reducing arsenic levels from 0.108 mg/L to 0.002 mg/L, this represents a greater than 98% removal rate. To learn more about arsenic removal using the DesEL system please visit the DesEL section of our website, contact us through our website or call ENPAR directly.
